Spain proposes to raise the 2030 PV installation target to 77GW! 2023-07-06
Spain's Ministry of Ecological Transformation and Demographic Challenges (Miteco) has updated its National Energy and Climate Plan (NECP) with plans to increase the 2030 solar PV installation target from 37GW to more than 76GW.

The ministry is currently seeking public comments on the new draft, with a deadline of Sept. 4, 2023. miteco said the revised proposal aims to reflect ambitions to achieve carbon emissions, curb the effects of global warming and modernize the economy by 2050.

According to the revised PNIEC, Spain's cumulative generation capacity is expected to be 214 GW by the end of 2030.

To achieve this goal, MITECO plans to invest 294 million euros, of which 15% will come from public funds, including those provided by the European Union (EU), and 85% will go to the private sector. Renewable energy investments account for about 40% of the total investment in this investment.
