How to design a ballasted solution for flat roof?


When it comes to design, here are the basic rules the engineers must to follow:

Lifespan

This is the most important thing when it comes to solar mounting system, because it’s a decades thing, and it can only be friendly to environment when it can works a long time.

However, HQ’S BR4 designed withAL6005-T5 underAS/NZS 1170, JIS C8955:2011/2017, DIN 1055 criteria to make sure it’s strong enough.

Also the corrosion must been dealt withEPDM rubber under the beam, andanodized for the aluminum products.

It’s not just the structure lifespan we are considering, but also the roof too. So this design has the mostslightly pressure to roof.


2. Cost

Well, every business involves cost but how to reduce the cost and how much can it be lower simply shows the ability of an engineers.

So in HQ’s new ballasted design, we used a solutionwithout ballasted tray,without profile and if it’s south-north direction, we can eveneliminate the wind shelter to make the price under 30USD/KW.


3. Stocks

You don’t want your warehouse to be full of items but it only able to install for 100kw. So HQ’s mounting solution for concrete roof designed with asmall packing volume so it not only lower the cost forlogistic but also thestocking problems.

We also design the front support to be2 degrees, the most popular 10 and 15 degrees. (5 degrees is also available)


4. Installation

How’s the labor cost in your area?

HQ’s design is based on rapid panel clamp solution. The structure is so easy that workers don’t need to carry the profiles all over the roof, they can simply put the beam install the front and rear support then justrapidly fasten the panel into the support.

If you need to change place after fastening the panel,. don’t worry, the front and real leg can beadjusted after installation, so no need to remove the panels.


5. Application

When something is firstly designed, it’s applied usually for one occasion. But we want something that can be amounted on the concrete roof and tin roof both, so again, you don’t need to stock systems for every solutions.


6. Maintain

If the above is solved, it’s a design, but not good enough. A good design should also take the afterwards into consideration.

So the concrete based is designed to put under panels instead of rows, so the maintaining would besafer and easier.
