Pre‑Assembly Test: 1MW Steel Ground Mount – Engineered for 160km/h Winds, Destined for East Africa
May 26, 2026 | HQ Mount News
HQ Mount has successfully completed a full factory pre‑assembly test of a 1MW steel ground mount system designed for 160km/h wind speeds (approximately 44.4 m/s). This system is destined for a solar project in East Africa, where extreme wind conditions demand robust engineering.

Key design features:
-
160km/h wind load capacity – engineered to withstand extreme storms common in East African highlands and coastal zones.
-
Concrete block foundation with right‑angle bolts – the steel structure is secured to precast concrete blocks using high‑strength right‑angle bolts, eliminating the need for ground screws or poured footings in rocky or remote terrain.
-
Every component carefully measured – during the pre‑assembly test, our QC team verified each bolt, nut, clamp, and rail. No detail was overlooked.
- 1MW capacity – ideal for utility‑scale or large commercial installations.

About the destination: East Africa's solar market is growing rapidly, but challenging wind conditions (especially in Kenya, Tanzania, and Ethiopia) require carefully engineered mounting systems. This project represents HQ Mount's commitment to delivering region‑specific solutions.
